Today marks the highlight of your safari—Rwanda gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing by Rwanda Development Board rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family based on fitness level and trekking preferences.

The trek may take between 2 to 6 hours depending on gorilla movements, but the reward is extraordinary. Spending one magical hour with a mountain gorilla family—watching them feed, interact, and care for their young—is a profound wildlife experience few places on Earth can offer.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. The afternoon is free to unwind, enjoy spa treatments (luxury lodges), or take short community walks around the park.

The trek is generally shorter and less strenuous than gorilla trekking, making it a perfect complement to the safari. After the activity, return to the lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, you may choose to visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll engage with local traditions, dances, and stories that enrich your understanding of Rwanda’s heritage.
