Day 1: Arrival in Kigali – City & Cultural Tour

Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be met by your professional safari guide and transferred to your hotel. Depending on arrival time, enjoy a guided Kigali city tour, including visits to local markets, art galleries, and historical landmarks. A moving visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial provides important insight into Rwanda’s past and its journey of reconciliation.

Dinner and overnight stay in Kigali.

Day 2: Kigali – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

After breakfast, depart Kigali on a scenic drive north through Rwanda’s rolling hills toward Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. Along the way, enjoy countryside views, tea plantations, and rural villages. Arrive at your lodge near the park in time for lunch and relaxation.

In the afternoon, enjoy optional nature walks or simply relax with views of the Virunga volcanoes.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park

Today is the highlight of your safari — Rwanda gorilla trekking. After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before trekking into the forest with experienced guides and trackers. Once located, spend a magical hour observing a gorilla family in its natural habitat.

Return to the lodge for lunch and spend the afternoon at leisure, reflecting on one of Africa’s most powerful wildlife experiences.

Day 4: Golden Monkey Tracking & Cultural Experience

After breakfast, head back to Volcanoes National Park for golden monkey tracking, a lively and photogenic primate experience unique to the Virunga ecosystem. Later, visit the Iby’Iwacu Cultural Village, where you’ll engage with local communities, learn about traditional Rwandan life, dance, music, hunting traditions, and royal customs.

Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Volcanoes National Park – Lake Kivu

Depart after breakfast for a scenic drive to Lake Kivu, one of Africa’s most beautiful freshwater lakes. Arrive at your lakeside lodge and enjoy a relaxed afternoon with optional boat rides, lakeside walks, or swimming.

Lake Kivu offers a peaceful contrast to the forest trekking experience and is ideal for rest and reflection.

Day 6: Lake Kivu Cultural & Leisure Day

Spend the day at leisure exploring Lake Kivu and surrounding communities. Optional activities include fishing village visits, coffee tours, kayaking, or cultural interactions with lakeside communities. This day allows you to experience Rwanda at a slower pace while enjoying stunning lake and mountain scenery.

Day 7: Lake Kivu – Return to Kigali & Departure

After breakfast, drive back to Kigali with scenic stopovers along the way.
